MOVING TO A NEW SERVER SOON.
PICATO 2.0 LATER THIS MONTH!:

We are pleased to inform all cat lovers that picato.net will be moving to a brand new server soon. Please understand that during the month of Juli, there might be some small downtime where you can not access www.picato.net. Rest assured that i will try to keep the downtime to a minimum (a few houers probably). In return for the little inconvenience, the new server will be much faster. Also, this is the first step towards picato 2.0, which is currently in closed beta testing and will be released later this month with lot's of new features!

NEW FEATURES ON PICATO:
SEARCH AND PICTURE PAGING

We got many e-mails from users asking for a search feature on www.picato.net so we are pleased to intoduce the new google search for picato (on the right-bottom of every page). It indexes all pages on the website and should be able to find all cats, tags, comments, articels and all the rest. It might take a few minutes, after a new post appears, to be indexed by google, but it already works quite well. On a sidenote, it is now possible to page trough the pictures with the "prev / next" links on top of the big picture.

ABOUT HOMELESS CATS

As you might have seen, there is now a homeless cats page on picato. Here's how it works: If someone tags a picture with the "homeless" tag, it will be shown on that page. To add a cat picture to this category, please sign up, upload the picture and then tag it with "homeless". Please make sure to include information on how to reach you in the cat's profile. One user pointed out that giving away cats for free is not such a good idea and noted: Please always charge at least 10$ - 20$, to keep vultures off who might want to sell your cat to laboratorys for experiments. It also helps to deliver the kitten to the new home, instead of letting people pick it up at your home, so you can make sure they get a nice new home and owner :)

Seems like the cat-lovers over at http://www.cuteoverload.com love picato :) So much that our server is quite unresponsive right now. We are working on the problem and hope to be back very soon. If you can't access the site right now, please try again in a few houers. Sorry for the inconvenience!

We added a few new cat videos, enjoy :)

We found and fixed a small bug in the code today. Sometimes, uploads or logins would get stuck. Uploading pictures and logging in should work reliable again. Please report any problems you experience to info@picato.net and we will investigate them. Here's what bucky had to say about the bug:looks a bit grumpy doesn't he ;)

Cute Cat Videos

We added a small collection of cute cat and kitten videos to the site. Also, we'd like to thank all the people who uploaded their cat pictures and cat profiles. And finaly, here's a funny cat picture :)

Today we did a small update to the site. New stuff:

- Articles about cats
- RSS Feed of new pictures
- Gadget for your personalized Google Homepage (Add to Google)
- Lots of new pictures and cat profiles :)

During the update, there was a small period of time where signup, uploading and commenting did not work. It is now fixed and functional again.
